Headline: Live Like A Bird In This Luxurious Nest-Like Norwegian Treehouse

Caption: Travellers can now get in touch with their inner avian in a luxurious nest-like treehouse in the Norwegian mountains. Located in the Hardanger fjord in Odda, Norway, Woodnest's treehouses sit 5-6 metres from the forest floor and look out to panoramic views of snowcapped mountains. Blending in with the natural surroundings, each treehouse exterior is designed to resemble the Norwegian ‘kongla’ (pinecone) - and gives a bird’s eye view of one of the world’s great natural landscapes. The treehouses span around 15m² each and have been built to rely on the pine tree at their centre, for structural support. What originally started with two treehouses, Woodnest has since expanded to four. The two original nests can host four guests each. Meanwhile, the Mountaintops treehouses introduced in July 2023, can each host two. The newer tree cabins also include hand-carved wooden bathtubs and beds that can be lowered from the ceiling. Designed by Norwegian architects Helen & Hard, each tree cabin is equipped with essential amenities, including electricity, a kitchenette, high-speed Wi-Fi, and bathroom facilities. The area is between Norway’s largest national parks, Hardangervidda and Folgefonna, and boasts waterfalls, fjords, blue glaciers, and snowcapped peaks. To get to the treehouses, guests must first hike for 20 minutes from the nearby town, Odda. However, nearby attractions include Trolltunga, one of Norway’s largest cliff formations hovering 700 metres above Ringedalsvatnet lake. Keen skiers can drive to the Røldal ski centre, while previous guests have been lucky enough to see the Northern Lights. Prices for a stay at Woodnest start at Kr 3300, approximately £250 per night.
