Headline: RAW VIDEO: UK's 'Cheapest Ever' Electric Car To Hit The Road In October

Caption: Budget carmaker Dacia has launched the UK’s cheapest ever electric car - the £14,995 Dacia Spring. Ahead of the first deliveries in October, the company has confirmed that the Spring will be priced nearly £12,000 below the UK's current most affordable electric car, the Vauxhall Corsa. The Spring will become one of the UK's most budget-friendly new cars overall, with only the Fiat Panda, Kia Picanto, and Dacia's own Sandero priced below £14,995. Luke Broad, Dacia Brand Director for the UK, said: “We have listened to the concerns of UK drivers regarding accessing EVs, ensuring it not only has an unprecedented price but affordability that doesn’t come at the expense of durability, equipment or usability. Quite simply, there’s no other new EV currently on sale that offers so much for so little.” The low price buys you the entry-level Expression model, featuring a lower-powered 44bhp motor that accelerates from 0-62mph in 19 seconds. Standard features include a 7.0in touchscreen, USB port, cruise control, electric front windows, and rear parking sensors. A quicker 64bhp variant, with a 0-62mph sprint time of 13.7 seconds, starts at £15,995 and includes larger 15in wheels. The 64bhp model is also available in the range-topping Extreme trim for an additional £1000, offering copper-style trim details, electric rear windows, a 10.0in touchscreen, and wireless smartphone mirroring. All Spring variants come equipped with a 26.8kWh battery, providing a range of up to 137 miles. The more powerful version allows for charging at up to 30kW, enhancing the practicality and convenience of this affordable electric vehicle. First launched in 2021, the Dacia Spring was the third most sold electric car to individuals in 2022 and 2023. Since launch, more than 140,000 Springs have been registered worldwide. However, before its UK launch the Spring has undergone a comprehensive visual and technical overhaul to maintain its robust sales performance in Europe. Broad added: “Spring has played a key part in widespread adoption of EVs across Europe and, with a price that is even lower than speculated, we’re confident it will continue the success story in the UK. ”
