Headline: Footage Shows Ukraine's Flooded Kherson Region

Ukraine has accused Russian forces of blowing up the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Plant dam, which is situated in an area of Kherson that is occupied by Russian troops. The destruction of the dam has already caused flooding downstream, as this video shows. The dam holds back water equal to the Great Salt Lake in the US. It was built River in 1956 and in addition to powering the hydroelectric plant it provides water to the south of the country, including Crimea. Water provided by the dam is also used to cool the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Station. In a statement, officials from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine said that as of around 3 pm local time on Tuesday around 1,300 people had been evacuated from the region. Officials have said 16,000 live in danger zones that may need evacuation According to preliminary information cited by officials, 13 settlements on the right bank of the Dnipro River and more than 260 houses have been flooded by waters coming from behind the dam so far.
