Headline: Welsh Ponies Swim Across Marsh Lake In Rare Spectacle Caused By Blue Moon

Caption: The semi-feral conservation Welsh mountain ponies, who reside on the marsh at Penclawdd, Swansea, take to the water to swim across the River Loughor. These highly intelligent, native, hardy, ponies are fantastic swimmers and well adapted to living in these conditions on the marsh. This is quite a spectacle for those that have not previously witnessed it. What made this even more rare was that the ponies were swimming in tides created by the Blue Moon, which for the next few days are higher than usual, but nothing these ponies haven’t experienced before. Ponies, like horses, have large lungs that contribute to keeping them afloat while they swim, whilst their strong legs propel their body, using a paddle motion, through the water.
