Headline: Designer Creates £40 Million Superyacht Tailored For Retired Couples

Caption: A £40 million ($49.7 million) superyacht has been unveiled, catering specifically to retired couples. The snug vessel offers all the home comforts required in one's golden years, while also possessing the capability to explore the most challenging environments on Earth. Dubbed the 2US (pronounced "to us"), this yacht is the creation of California-based Steve Kozloff Designs and is targeted towards "capable couples." Spanning a length of 134 feet, this ice-class explorer yacht is well-equipped to handle polar conditions and comes complete with space for a mini-submarine, a helicopter, and a seaplane. The 2US boasts a tilting mast system that enables it to navigate under bridges, making it suitable for city breaks. Steve Kozloff, who is 69 years old, explains, "It is something my wife and I have been discussing; we would like to have a yacht like this. Essentially, it's like a home for the ocean, equipped with all the amenities, a garage workshop, space for water toys, and a spacious living environment." While the intended buyers may be older, it doesn't mean they should abandon a life of adventure. Steve adds, "It would be suitable for a married couple, but they would need to be mentally and physically capable." The 2US comprises five decks, including a 380-square-foot owner's suite that spans the full beam and a master suite. Additionally, there are guest cabins designed for six individuals to luxuriate in, as well as crew cabins that can accommodate up to three crew members if required. The interior space features multiple levels, curved walls, and numerous large windows that offer a nearly panoramic view of the surroundings. An impressive 1,800-square-foot aircraft hangar comes equipped with a unique elevating and gyro-stabilised landing pad, capable of housing a helicopter and an IKON seaplane. "The stabilised landing pad is designed to provide a steady platform during take-off and landing, even in rough conditions," explains Steve. When powered solely by diesel, the 2US can cruise at nine knots for up to 6,000 nautical miles. The range is significantly extended when carefully managing a hybrid diesel-electric system and sail power. Under sail power alone, it can reach speeds of up to ten knots. Steve estimates that building this vessel would cost an "estimated $40 to $50 million." He confidently asserts, "The 2US is a genuine world-class explorer sailing yacht, offering all the luxuries of a super-yacht and much more."
