Headline: RAW VIDEO: Two Adorable Tasmanian Devils Make Appearance At Australian Zoo

Caption: Two adorable Tasmanian Devils have made an appearance at an Australian zoo Indigo and Violet are residents at Aussie Ark, which is in the thick of the Tasmanian Devil breeding season. The seven-month-old Devil joeys, who are currently being looked after by wildlife ranger Tyler Lowe, weigh half a kilo each and are distinctively different in both white markings as well as personalities. “Indigo is a bit of a troublemaker!” Mr Lowe said. “She loves to run around, and she likes to harass her sister. Meanwhile Violet is a much more tempered Devil. She loves a cuddle, and she’s much calmer and more comfortable.” At this age in the wild, the joeys would be hiding in a den or riding their mother’s back during adventures through the bush. So Mr Lowe takes the joeys outside for short periods of time, to get some fresh air and sunshine and also tune into the big world around them. Devils famously have an incredible sense of smell – able to detect carrion five kilometres away – and also a great sense of hearing, whilst their eyesight is poor. Mr Lowe observes all these senses in action when the joeys are outdoors. “When a bird makes a noise overhead you can see both the Devils raise up in alarm,” Mr Lowe said. “Obviously they are very curious at this age. And I could really see the two of them today, using all their senses to really take in the environment.” Mr Lowe said he is bottle-feeding the pair three times a day and starting to transition them into eating a little meat. Once they are weaned and strong enough they will join Aussie Ark’s Tasmanian Devil breeding program up at the Barrington Tops in the hope of breeding.
