Caption: Luxury automaker Bentley Motors and Contest Yachts have joined forces to create a tailor-made Bentley sailing yacht for a private client. Following a visit to Bentley's Crewe Factory, the automaker was commissioned to design the bespoke interior for the Contest 67CS. Bentley's design team, renowned for their work on interiors for models like the Continental GT and Bentayga, embraced the challenging task, leveraging their expertise in materials and techniques used in Bentley cars. The collaboration resulted in a fully matched Bentley auto-yacht interior, providing exclusive bespoke opportunities for owners who appreciate the synergy between Bentley's automotive excellence and Contest Yachts' luxury performance. Working closely with Contest Yachts' design team, Bentley employed innovative techniques, including 3D printing for prototyping individual components. A full mock-up of items like the sofa was created before the fit-out, ensuring meticulous finishes and adherence to stringent quality standards. Bentley's iconic diamond quilted hides were seamlessly integrated throughout the vessel's interior, with custom details like tissue boxes and drinks coasters crafted to the client's preferences. Specialised techniques such as hand cross-stitching, typically used for Bentley steering wheels, were adapted for various elements. The interior features Bentley Home furnishings, including the Malvern Chair, paying homage to Bentley car geometries. Exclusive designs, such as a bespoke bar and vanity unit, were also created for the Contest 67CS. Bentley's craftsmanship extended to trimming unique elements like the Contest Yacht's Captain's chair and 'Egg' table. The hand-built sofa, precision-finished in Bentley trim, exemplifies the meticulous attention to detail. Contest CEO Arjen Conijn expressed delight in the collaboration, stating, "We are delighted to be working with Bentley Motors, adding the option of fully matched Bentley auto and yacht interiors to our portfolio." Dr Matthias Rabe, Member of the Board for Engineering at Bentley Motors, added: “Yacht interiors, like that of a car must be exact with precision detail. Whilst it was a challenge for our design teams to adapt their craft skills to an interior, providing a totally bespoke extension to our automotive interiors for the water we are delighted with the result. “The finished article is a testament to the incredible talent and skill of our craftsmen and women who rose to the challenge and pushed the boundaries of what is possible. It has been a pleasure to work with the Contest Team - we share not only a renowned heritage in performance and luxury, but also the desire to continually innovate to provide cleaner, greener efficiencies in our work and production practices and output.”
