This remarkable footage shows the moment a cliff collapse on Dorset's Jurassic Coast was caught on camera by a local fossil expert.

Ali Ferris, of Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre, filmed the collapse at Stonebarrow Beach on Friday (14March2025).

Ferris, who is an interpretation manager at the fossil centre, was walking on the beach when she witnessed the event.

The Jurassic Coast is cliff fall hotspot as coastal erosion reveals prehistoric fossilised remains and attracts fossil hunters.


“We've had a section of the cliff slip this afternoon over on Stonebarrow (East) Beach, a good reminder to stay clear of the cliffs and keep a good distance from them at all times,” staff at the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre said of the fall.

“Thankfully this one was from a shallower part of the cliffs, but it is a part we often see people going right up to. If you are visiting the beach, please take note of the warning signs.”
