Caption: These images and this video footage shows rescue operations after the attic of a prefabricated building on a construction site north-west of Florence collapsed on Friday (16February2024) morning. Early reports indicated that three people had been pulled from the rubble by firefighters. Eugenio Giani, the president of the Tuscany region, told Italy’s SkyTG24 news channel that two workers who were pulled out from the rubble in very critical conditions and that there was very little hope for three other workers still trapped underneath the slab. Giani said earlier that more than one person had died, while Florence Mayor Dario Nardella gave a figure of three workers dead, stating that three more were in hospital in stable condition. Others are still unaccounted for.
