At CES 2024 Mercedes showcased a new feature on one of its cars - the ability to execute the ‘G-Turn’ - a 360 degree turn on its own axis.
This manoeuvre is just a fun party trick for the moment, as it is not allowed on public roads but shows what cars may be capable of in the future.
Mercedes-Benz got the four EQG prototypes to do the synchronised 360-degree turns on the Las Vegas Strip during CES.
The EQG can accomplish these turns thanks to using an electric motor to drive each wheel. By applying forward or reverse power to each corner, depending on what side of the vehicle you're looking at. This allows the SUV to rotate on its axis.
The EQG will officially hit the roads later this year.
