Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has unveiled a one-of-a-kind Phantom Extended car crafted as a tribute to the Rolls used by the villain Goldfinger in the 1964 James Bond film of the same name.

This unique creation takes inspiration from the 1937 Phantom III Sedanca de Ville famously driven by Auric Goldfinger, the antagonist whose obsession with gold turns him into a master criminal.

The bespoke Phantom Goldfinger combines meticulous design and engineering to celebrate the film’s legacy, delivering what Rolls-Royce calls “an entirely new chapter” in the brand’s commitment to luxury and craftsmanship.

Chief Executive of Rolls-Royce, Chris Brownridge, remarked, “At Rolls-Royce, we are dedicated to crafting deeply personal masterpieces that reshape the boundaries of possibility and define the essence of luxury. Each creation is a reflection of our commitment to producing extraordinary, unique motor cars that delight and exceed our clients’ expectations. This project truly invigorated our creative team, allowing them the freedom to explore new reaches of imagination. The final result stands as a testament to the power of collaboration among our designers, craftspeople, and engineers.”

Boris Weletzky, Regional Director for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars across the UK, Europe, and Central Asia, added, “Witnessing our Bespoke Collective’s work on a project that honours Goldfinger has been remarkable. Their creativity extended beyond the motor car itself, curating extraordinary experiences for the client and family that are true to the Goldfinger theme. This exceptional ability to engage our clients and create lasting impressions defines us as a true House of Luxury.”

The exterior of this exclusive Phantom replicates the distinctive yellow of the 1937 Sedanca de Ville and features a ‘long-side’ two-tone design where black paint wraps seamlessly around the car, echoing the film car’s silhouette. The vehicle’s 21-inch wheels, finished in black with silver accents, further reflect the original design.

At the car’s front, a unique Spirit of Ecstasy figurine subtly references the film’s gold-smuggling plot. Specialists achieved a “gold reveal” effect by applying 18-carat gold plating to a solid silver figure, a technique that mirrors Goldfinger’s own obsession with concealing and transforming gold.

Inside, Rolls-Royce has integrated several highly complex bespoke features, including an 18-carat gold bar housed within the centre console, which glows softly. Other interior touches include gold lining on the front and rear centre consoles, air vents, organ stops, and the glovebox lid, which bears Goldfinger’s iconic quote: “This is gold, Mr. Bond. All my life, I have been in love with its colour, its brilliance, its divine heaviness.”
The car’s treadplates are gold-plated and embossed with the same font style as the film’s title, while the vehicle identification number proudly ends in ‘007’ – an unmistakable nod to the franchise’s enduring legacy.

A highlight of the Phantom Goldfinger is the bespoke Gallery, running across the front fascia. This stainless-steel artwork features an isoline map of the Furka Pass, where Bond pursues Goldfinger in the film. Created through a complex layering and engraving process, the map reveals gold beneath the darkened steel, symbolising hidden treasure.

The Starlight Headliner has been customised to replicate the constellations over the Furka Pass on the night of 11 July 1964, the final day of filming in Switzerland. 719 gold-hued ‘stars’ light up the headliner, including eight shooting stars, each positioned by hand.

Other distinctive details include picnic tables adorned with a 22-carat gold inlay representing Fort Knox, the fictional setting for Goldfinger’s heist. The tables took six months to perfect, highlighting key areas such as ‘Gold Vault Road’ and ‘Bullion Boulevard.’

An additional nod to Goldfinger is the inclusion of a gold-plated golf putter, mounted in the boot – a reminder of the villain’s memorable golf game with Bond at Stoke Park. Rolls-Royce even included umbrellas in red, blue, green, and yellow, mirroring those stashed in the original film car’s boot by Oddjob, Goldfinger’s iconic henchman.

Secured with the British numberplate ‘AU 1,’ a reference to gold on the periodic table, Phantom Goldfinger embodies Rolls-Royce’s commitment to exquisite design and storytelling. Delivered to an esteemed British collector, the vehicle is a profound homage to one of cinema’s greatest villains and the luxury brand’s exceptional craftsmanship.

Bespoke Designer Nick Rhodes reflected, “Bringing Phantom Goldfinger to life has been one of our Bespoke Collective’s most imaginative journeys. The whimsical and refined features referencing the film’s most memorable moments showcase the power of Bespoke design, enriching an iconic story with new and lasting detail.”
