Rolls-Royce has unveiled its third bespoke £20 million car - the Arcadia Droptail.
The car is a bespoke coachbuilt creation that stands as an embodiment of tranquility and refinement.
Crafted as the third Coachbuild Droptail commission it is named after the mythical 'Heaven on Earth' in Ancient Greek mythology, Arcadia Droptail redefines luxury with its unique design and meticulous attention to detail.
Commissioned by an individual deeply connected to architecture and design, Arcadia Droptail is a testament to the client's commitment to purity and subtle restraint. It serves as a sanctuary from the complexities of their business life, reflecting their belief in distilling complexity to reveal fundamental essence.
Anders Warming, Design Director, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, said: "The Rolls-Royce Arcadia Droptail wonderfully demonstrates the true nature of a Coachbuild proposition in completely transforming the character of a motor car. Each Droptail commission reflects a deeply personal understanding and interpretation of a foundational design.
"With Arcadia Droptail we witness daring in minimalism and subtlety, informed by the lifestyle of an individual who has a unique appreciation for British luxury. In creating this historic motor car, we once again prove our peerless abilities in synthesising and executing Bespoke design at its highest level.”
The exterior of Arcadia Droptail boasts a calm, natural duotone colorway, blending solid white with aluminum and glass particles to create a shimmering effect in natural light. The carbon fiber used in the lower sections is painted in a bespoke silver, lifting the profile and intensifying its dynamic intent. The mirror-polished grille surround, vane pieces, and 22-inch alloy wheels pay homage to the brilliance of historical Rolls-Royce brightwork.
Inside, the focus shifts to wood, with Santos Straight Grain selected for its rich texture and visual intrigue. Applying this delicate wood to the complex curvatures of Droptail's interior required innovative engineering techniques, including a carbon fiber substructure. The extensive use of Santos Straight Grain wood, including the aerodynamically functional rear deck, posed a significant challenge, taking more than 8,000 hours of development.
The interior features a bespoke clock face, the most complex in Rolls-Royce history, with a symbolic guilloché pattern, polished hands, and 12 slender chaplets. The leather interior, in unique white and tan hues, complements the exterior paint theme. The shawl panel, the largest continuous wood section ever on a Rolls-Royce, connects all four Droptail motor cars.
Arcadia Droptail's international dimension is reflected in its left-hand drive configuration, emphasizing its usability around the world. The client experienced the motor car virtually in multiple locations using Rolls-Royce's 'holodeck,' a 3D virtual environment.
This coachbuilt masterpiece is the result of over four years of collaboration, capturing the essence of the client's tastes, identity, and modern outlook. Rolls-Royce Coachbuild designers have successfully translated these complex, highly personal sensibilities into an elegant and timeless expression of luxury in the form of the Rolls-Royce Arcadia Droptail.
