Headline: RAW VIDEO: Talk Of The Devil! Tasmanian Devil Finds New Home At Australian Zoo To Join Breeding Program

Caption: A Tasmanian Devil has arrived at his new home at an Australian zoo as part of an effort to support a breeding initiative. Three-year-old Quirrell recently made the journey from Launceston in Tasmania to his new residence at Aussie Ark in Sydney. His arrival coincides with the start of the Tasmanian Devil's breeding season, which begins in late February. Every year Aussie Ark receives ‘fresh blood’ from Tasmania to bolster the DNA mix and general ‘vitality’ of its insurance population. Operations Manager Dean Reid said, “We’re delighted with Quirrell,” “He’s in prime condition, almost 9 kilos in weight, and was chosen from hundreds of other Devils in the program for his excellent genetics.” Following a comprehensive health examination, Quirrell was introduced to his new habitat within the Species Recovery Unit, joining a group aimed at breeding, consisting of three other male and four female Tasmanian Devils. Upon his release, Quirrell quickly began exploring his new surroundings and seeking out his fellow Devils. Females experience three oestrus cycles during the breeding season, so there’s ample opportunity for Quirrell to sire new Devils at the Ark. “Little Quirrells” may be in pouch by March, Mr Reid said with a big smile.
