Headline: RAW VIDEO: Take A Little Birdhouse For Your Home! Dutch Holiday Home Allows You To 'Live In A Bird Box'

Caption: Fancy spending a vacation living in a human-sized birdhouse? Now you can thanks to a luxury holiday home in the Netherlands. In the heart of the Hoge Veluwe national park lies the Buitenplaats Koningsweg. Once a barracks site, it now serves as a vibrant community for dozens of artists and creative entrepreneurs. As part of an innovative project by the municipality of Arnhem, 11 architectural wonders, known as follies, have been crafted in the woods for holiday stays, forming an integral part of the site's history with the central theme being 'camouflage.' One such folly is Buitenverblijf Nest, an extraordinary holiday home inspired by the archetypal image of a birdhouse and designed by the i29 firm. Respecting nature, the design of Nest incorporates high-quality materials that have minimal impact on human, animal, and environmental health. The holiday home is sustainable, featuring all-electric installations and a highly insulated building envelope. Solar panels on the roof provide energy, contributing to its eco-friendly profile. Perched on slender black legs and offering a panoramic view from the treetops, Nest provides a sense of tranquility and privacy that is unparalleled. More than just a retreat for humans, Nest is a nature-inclusive habitat, providing a sanctuary for various birds, tree climbers, and insects. The architectural composition, resembling a birdhouse, seamlessly integrates into the wooded landscape. The structure consists of three layers progressively staggering outwards, creating additional space for nesting boxes in the facades. Behind the cladding, nooks and crannies offer shelter for nuthatches, woodpeckers, and bats. The black steel frame and plinth beams under the raised floor serve as nesting spots. However, those wanting to stay needn’t worry about it being too small for you to fit your beak in. The interior of Nest is ingeniously designed to make the most of its limited space. The kitchen and living room, situated almost 8 meters above the ground, offer a breathtaking view of the surroundings. Clever incorporation of storage space and a compact kitchen adds to the efficiency of the living area. A mezzanine floor hosts the bathroom, accessible via a stairs cupboard. The hood of the structure houses a spacious bedroom with a large bed, and despite the compact space, the design maximizes the perception of space through long sight lines and a thoughtful layout. Wall-to-wall sliding doors and large round windows in the living room provide stunning views of the natural surroundings, completing the immersive experience of staying in this unique and sustainable holiday home.
