Eurogamer report that in the run up to the ‘reboot-ish’ of the fighter’s launch on 19 September, developer NetherRealm have indeed confirmed that Smoke and Rain will be playable characters in Mortal Kombat 1alongside some returning assistive Kameo familiar faces. The dev previously confirmed 10 playable characters, with the latest 2 bringing the total to 12. Mortal Kombat wouldn’t be Mortal Kombat of course without assist-style Kameo Fighters to spice things up. And NetherRealm didn’t let fans down in that department, adding a total of 4. Set in a ‘reborn’ universe created by Fire God Liu Kang, Mortal Kombat 1 will hit PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on 19 September.
