Caption: Threads Loses Users After Record-Breaking Release. On July 27, Mark Zuckerberg revealed to staff that Threads, Meta's Twitter competitor, has lost over half of its users. Insider reports that Meta's text-based app initially broke ChatGPT's record for reaching 100 million users, hitting the milestone in just five days. Despite the promising start, the tech giant appears to be struggling to retain users. "Obviously, if you have more than 100 million people sign up, ideally it would be awesome if all of them or even half of them stuck around.", "We're not there yet.", Mark Zuckerberg, Meta CEO, via Reuters. According to Meta's chief product officer, the tech giant is working on “retention-driving hooks” intended to keep users on the app. Reuters reports that the new “hooks” include "making sure people who are on the Instagram app can see important Threads.” The connection with Instagram, Meta's photo-sharing app, has reportedly been seen as a critical step in encouraging users to stay on the platform. According to Adam Mosseri, Instagram's chief, Threads is working on “obvious missing features” like trending topics, hashtags, translations and the ability to view likes. Insider points out that Threads is looking to capitalize on discontent with Twitter amid the platform's rebranding as X. Threads launched just days after Twitter imposed "temporary limits on viewing tweets," Insider reports. THIS VIDEO MUST NOT BE EDITED FOR LENGTH TO COMBINE WITH OTHER CONTENT
