Reuters reports that social media platform X has been restored after a global outage impacted over 77,000 users in the United States alone. Other countries that experienced outages of both X and X Pro, formerly known as TweetDeck, included Canada, Britain and France. According to Downdetector data, over 7,000 users in Canada and Britain were experiencing issues with the platform. The cause of the widespread outage remains unknown. Users on X were reportedly unable to view posts, while X Pro users received messages that said "waiting for posts". When attempting to view posts, X users were reportedly sent a "Welcome to X!" message. The platform has run into numerous issues since Elon Musk's $44 billion takeover. Reuters reports that those issues have included layoffs that impacted numerous engineers responsible for preventing and fixing service outages. Users reportedly took to X rival Threads to discuss the outage. Reports from X users on Meta's app included difficulties viewing posts, replies and profiles.
