Cynthia Erivo has admitted she has "daddy issues”. The Wicked star believes she has several things in common with her on-screen alter ego, the green-skinned witch Elphaba. Speaking with the Los Angeles Times, Cynthia, 37, again sought to explain her motivation for lashing out online last month against a fan who created tribute artwork for the movie. ”Having that passion for what this piece is and loving it so much and knowing how much I want to communicate through Elphaba, that's probably where that came from. And so in my little human moment I had ... I fell out on the internet, when really I should have just picked up my phone and called a friend.” "We have these human moments. And me being human and sensitive, I shared something that I think is part of the little girl in me.” Cynthia initially called the artwork - which obscured her face beneath a large witch's hat in homage to the original Broadway production's poster - "wildly offensive.” She told the Times her strong, immediate reaction was linked to a character trait she shares with Elphaba. ”We both lack patience, me more than her. I think we both have daddy issues. And we don't mince our words, that's for sure.”
