Dozens Killed Near Gaza Aid Site Amid Third Day of Gunfire. Nearly 30 Palestinians were killed and dozens wounded Tuesday as they approached an aid distribution point in Rafah, southern Gaza, according to local health officials. This marks the third consecutive day of deadly shootings near aid centers, with footage showing scores of injured arriving at Nasser hospital in Khan Younis. The Israeli military claimed its forces opened fire after individuals moved off designated access routes and ignored warning shots. IDF spokesperson Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin said those shot had “deviated significantly” from the approved area, posing a threat to troops. Palestinian health officials and Nasser hospital confirmed at least 27 people dead, with most injuries caused by gunfire to the upper body. Dr. Marwan al-Hams, head of field hospitals, said the hospital was overwhelmed: “Only if someone dies inside the intensive care units, only then can we make availability for the next patient”. A mother, Nawal Al-Masri, called the site a “trap” after her son was injured trying to retrieve a small bag of flour. UN human rights chief Volker Turk condemned the attacks, saying civilians face the “grimmest of choices: die from starvation or be killed seeking food.” Aid distribution sites will close Wednesday for logistical and security adjustments, officials announced, following the recent wave of violence. Tuesday’s incident occurred near the Al-Alam roundabout, where previous shootings also took place, amid ongoing Israeli operations across Khan Younis.
