Waze Finally Brings Navigation to Car Instrument Clusters. For years, Waze has been a top choice for drivers, offering real-time alerts on road hazards and speed traps. But unlike Google Maps and Apple Maps, it lacked one key feature—displaying directions on instrument clusters and head-up displays. That’s changing with Waze’s new version 5.4, now compatible with select automakers through Apple CarPlay. BMW and Polestar owners are among the first to notice the update, which allows turn-by-turn directions to appear directly in the driver’s line of sight. Interestingly, BMW’s iDrive8 system was always capable of supporting this, but Waze had never enabled the feature, until now. With this long-awaited upgrade, more drivers can navigate without taking their eyes off the road.
