Selena Gomez has opened up about some of the "dexterity issues" she faces as a result of her health struggles. Previously, the actress-singer revealed she had been diagnosed with lupus, an autoimmune disease that attacks healthy tissues, often affecting joints, skin, kidneys, and lungs. She received a kidney transplant in 2017. During an interview for the Good Hang with Amy Poehler podcast on Tuesday, Selena described how the disease has affected her hands. ”I have arthritis in my fingers, and that's due to my lupus. So, I remember before (launching my beauty) brand, I was trying to open a water bottle and it hurt really bad before I was on the right medication.” As a result, Selena insisted that all of the products for her Rare Beauty cosmetics line be contained in easy-to-open packaging. ”And we somehow inherently made the products easy to open, and then we realised, wait - they kind of have to be that way. And then we started to make every product with the intention of (working for) anybody who (has) dexterity problems.” Elsewhere in the chat, Selena explained how she chose an oversized pump for her new Rare Beauty perfume to make application simple. ”I know that might seem like a little thing, but it's really not because it's actually so helpful for anyone at any age to be able to use the products. And that's why we want to make them easy and accessible, because it's important to me and it always (has) been. So, even down to our fragrance, the pump is very easy for me to use,"
