Realising the oversight, Lammy quickly obtained the correct licence and reported himself to the Environment Agency. The Foreign Office described the incident as an administrative slip during a casual outing at the Chevening lake. Vance’s family, who caught several fish, ensured all were returned safely to the lake after the session. After their stay, the Vances continued their UK visit with a family holiday in the Cotswolds.
