Air Canada Flight Resumes Delayed as Union Defies Government Order. Air Canada has postponed the restart of its flights after the government ordered more than 10,000 cabin crew to return to work. The Canadian Industrial Relations Board had set a 2 p.m. deadline and extended the expired collective agreement until a new deal is reached. However, the Canadian Union of Public Employees instructed members to ignore the order, accusing the government of giving in to corporate pressure. As a result, the airline now plans to resume operations on Monday instead of Sunday. The strike began Saturday when flight attendants walked out over pay disputes, including demands for higher wages and compensation while planes are grounded, causing around 700 flight cancellations. Jobs Minister Patty Hajdu has stepped in with binding arbitration to resolve the conflict.
