Palestinian Deaths in Gaza Surpass 30,000. On Feb. 29, Israeli troops opened fire on Palestinians seeking aid in Gaza City, AP reports. Over 100 people were killed, raising the war's death toll in Gaza to more than 30,000. Approximately 760 were wounded. The Ministry of Health referred to the incident as a "massacre," AP reports. Israeli officials claimed that their troops opened fire after the crowd became threatening, and "dozens were killed and injured from pushing, trampling and being run over by the trucks”. However, witnesses claim that Israel opened fire as flour and canned goods were being taken off trucks.Trucks reaching northern Gaza this week represented "the first major aid delivery to the area in a month," AP reports. It has become almost impossible to provide humanitarian assistance in Gaza because of troops and a lack of public order, according to aid groups. The U.N. reports that a quarter of Palestinians in Gaza face starvation. This has prompted the international community to call for another ceasefire. The U.S. is currently working with Egypt and Qatar to help negotiate a temporary ceasefire to release hostages. THIS VIDEO MUST NOT BE EDITED FOR LENGTH TO COMBINE WITH OTHER CONTENT
