Meghan, Duchess of Sussex honours Princess Diana during Nigeria trip. Meghan, Duchess of Sussex has honoured Princess Diana during her Nigeria trip by wearing one of her necklaces. She wore the delicate diamond cross on a gold chain, which used to belong to Princess Diana, to a reception for military families in Abuja. Prince Harry recently gave the necklace to his wife as a gift, according to People magazine. It’s not the first time during the non-official tour that Meghan has given a nod to her late mother-in-law. Earlier in the trip, she wore a gold collar necklace which looked similar to one Diana wore in Nigeria over 30 years ago. Harry, 39, has given his wife, 42, several of Diana's treasured pieces of jewellery, including butterfly earrings and an aquamarine ring. He also included two diamonds from Diana's personal collection in the engagement ring he designed for Meghan when he proposed in 2017. Meghan, who recently revealed she discovered she is 43% Nigerian, has been given a warm welcome during the visit. ”Princess Meghan is a Nigerian!" said chairman of the Nigerian Diaspora, Abike Dabiri Erewa, at a reception held at the Defence Headquarters Officers Mess. She said that she was "excited but not surprised" to learn of her heritage, "because she is beautiful, intelligent, diligent and hardworking and she stands firm in the midst of challenges.” She added, "Prince Harry, you married the best - our daughter, our friend, Princess Meghan. I hope you come back again, again and again.” THIS VIDEO MUST NOT BE EDITED FOR LENGTH TO COMBINE WITH OTHER CONTENT
