Iran Says Russia and China Providing Military Cooperation. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Russia and China are supporting Iran with ongoing political, economic and military cooperation. Araghchi described Russia and China as strategic partners for Tehran during its conflict with the United States and Israel. U.S. President Donald Trump recently suggested Vladimir Putin might be assisting Iran during the war. Iran and Russia have strengthened ties in recent years, including Tehran supplying Moscow with Shahed drones used in the Ukraine war. Both countries previously supported the now-defunct regime of Bashar al-Assad during the Syrian conflict. Iran also maintains a long-term economic partnership with China focused on oil exports and energy cooperation. Araghchi said Iran has restricted access to the Strait of Hormuz for American and Israeli vessels. The disruption to shipping in the strait has helped push global oil prices above $100 per barrel.
