Jaguar Land Rover Powers Up with Massive Solar Farm. Jaguar Land Rover has unveiled a new solar farm at its Gaydon headquarters, covering an area equivalent to 36 football pitches. The 18-megawatt site can supply a third of the electricity needed for JLR’s design, engineering, and R&D operations. The move is part of the company’s push to source at least 30% of its global energy from on-site renewables, cutting reliance on the grid and helping control costs while reducing environmental impact. Similar initiatives are underway at JLR’s Wolverhampton Electric Propulsion Centre, where a huge rooftop array with over 18,000 panels will generate around 9,500 megawatt-hours per year, meeting 40% of the site’s energy demand. Next year, solar carports and walkways will be installed at the Merseyside site mainly to power electric vehicle charging, bringing a touch of sunny innovation from warmer countries to the UK.
