McDonald's Faces Legal Threat Over Workplace Harassment. The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has written to 1,400 branches demanding compliance with the law after a BBC investigation exposed a toxic workplace culture. Earlier this year, McDonald's admitted to failing staff, with some employees reporting abuse even after the company pledged to act. One 19-year-old worker in Scotland told the BBC he faces homophobic slurs and humiliating treatment from colleagues—despite supposed reforms. The EHRC called the findings "troubling", saying reports of abuse have been "repeated for decades”. While McDonald's insists it's committed to change, many employees say the reality tells a different story.
