Child Sex Abuse Victim Urges Elon Musk to Remove Exploitative Links on X. A U.S. victim, known as “Zora,” has pleaded with Elon Musk to remove links sharing images of her past sexual abuse on X. Zora was first abused over 20 years ago by a family member, and images of her abuse continue circulating online. She says sharing or selling such material perpetuates the original trauma, calling it “infuriating” and “commodifying” victims. X maintains it has “zero tolerance” for child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and considers tackling it a top priority. BBC investigations found Zora’s images being sold via X and linked to a trader in Jakarta, Indonesia. Originally on the dark web, these images are now being openly promoted on social media, worsening the impact on survivors. Zora stresses, “My body is not a commodity… those who distribute this material are complicit perpetrators.” Last year, the U.S. National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received over 20 million CSAM reports from tech companies, highlighting the scale of the problem.
