Denmark Summons US Envoy Over Alleged Covert Operations in Greenland. Denmark summoned the top US diplomat after reports of Americans conducting influence operations in Greenland. At least three individuals with connections to President Trump are suspected of covert activity on the island. Greenland, a semi-autonomous Danish territory, has been described as “not for sale” by Denmark and local authorities. Danish and Greenlandic sources say the goal may be to weaken relations with Denmark from within Greenland. Public broadcaster DR cited eight sources, including unnamed government and security officials, for the report. Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen called any attempt to interfere in Denmark’s internal affairs “unacceptable.” Denmark stressed that cooperation with Greenland is “close and based on mutual trust.” The U.S. envoy was summoned for talks at the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
