Jack Black promises Tenacious D will return. The actor and musician recently cancelled the comedy rock band's Spicy Meatball Tour after Gass made a joke about the attempted assassination of the U.S. presidential candidate in July. As Black attended the premiere for his new movie Borderlands on Tuesday evening, he insisted the group's hiatus won't be permanent. ”We need to take a break. Everybody needs a break sometime. And we'll be back.” Gass sparked outrage last month when he was asked to make a wish after being presented with a birthday cake during a concert in Sydney. The musician replied, "Don't miss Trump next time", shortly after the former U.S. president had his ear grazed by a bullet during a campaign rally. Black also touched upon the status of his friendship with Gass since his bandmate made the controversial joke. ”Yeah, we're friends. That hasn't changed. These things take time sometimes... And we'll be back when it feels right.” Black made no secret of his love for Tenacious D as he attended the Borderlands event. ”I love Tenacious D. It's probably my favourite job, if you can call it that. It's a work of art, it's my baby.”
