Honda is bringing its first-ever concept car from 1984 out of storage to display it at America’s most extensive motor show. The wedge-shaped masterpiece will be a highlight at the prestigious 73rd Annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Designed by the renowned Italian design firm Pininfarina, the HP-X sports a cockpit inspired by fighter jets. Following a meticulous restoration at Pininfarina’s Italian workshop, the HP-X will be showcased in the Wedge-Shaped Concept Cars and Prototypes Class at the Concours on August 18th, 2024. It marks the first time a Japanese vehicle has appeared on the Pebble Beach stage in over 50 years. The futuristic design includes a jet-fighter-style removable single-piece Perspex canopy instead of traditional doors and uses alternative materials like honeycomb panels, carbon fibre, and Kevlar to reduce weight and enhance performance. Inside, the HP-X features advanced technologies such as real-time telemetry, GPS, and road condition warnings via “special sonar,” all of which are now commonplace in modern vehicles.
