UK PM Burnham Says Iran Likely Behind RAF Fairford Plot. British Prime Minister Andy Burnham says Iran likely coordinated the suspected RAF Fairford plot in Britain. He said the plot was almost certainly directed by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Tehran. RAF Fairford had hosted US bombers used to carry out strikes against Iran earlier this year. Five British men were arrested near the base on suspected terrorism and explosives offences in September. US officials believe the suspected plot involved plans for a drone attack targeting the airbase directly. Iran has denied any involvement and demanded Britain provide evidence supporting its accusations against Tehran publicly. British police found petrol but no viable explosives, while all seven arrested men were later released. Burnham promised tougher sanctions and action against Iranian-linked criminal networks operating or financing activities inside Britain.
