Tim Walz, Kamala Harris's running mate, confirmed the debate date on X, stating, "See you on October 1, JD.". JD Vance, running mate of Donald Trump, confirmed his participation on October 1, while also challenging Walz to a second debate on CNN on September 18. Walz has not yet commented on whether he will participate in the proposed September 18 CNN debate. The main presidential candidates, Trump and Harris, have agreed to a debate on ABC on September 10, which will be their first of the election cycle. Kamala Harris expressed her anticipation for the September 10 debate with Trump, affirming her readiness to engage on the ABC stage. Trump has suggested holding three debates with Harris, including two additional debates hosted by Fox News and NBC, though Harris’s campaign has not confirmed those yet. NBC News is reportedly in discussions with both campaigns about hosting an additional debate this autumn, further intensifying the election season debates.
