Train Managers Reject Offer, Avanti West Coast Braces for Strike Disruption. Avanti West Coast staff are set to strike after rejecting a deal aimed at resolving a dispute over rest day working. The RMT union announced strikes will take place on New Year’s Eve, 2 January, and Sundays between 12 January and 25 May. An RMT spokesperson said members had “resoundingly rejected” Avanti’s offer and that sustained strikes are the only way to push for a negotiated settlement. The union revealed 83% of its 400 members voted against the proposed deal. Avanti operates key routes, including London Euston to Manchester, Glasgow, and Liverpool and warns of “significant disruption” to passengers.
