Staff on Assassin's Creed Shadows reportedly pushed Ubisoft to delay the game for months. According to the Eurogamer, a new report claims that Ubisoft staff requested management to postpone Assassin's Creed Shadows over several months as the need for more time became evident. The report highlights that Shadows' developers require extra time to fix bugs and effectively implement recent gameplay adjustments from playtests and mock reviews. Ubisoft is taking the necessary time to address historical and cultural issues that have persisted since before the game's public announcement and have intensified since then. This involves "modifying aspects of Yasuke's story and portrayal," along with what appear to be less significant design choices. Ubisoft delayed Shadows last month after "softer than expected" sales for Star Wars Outlaws, which has now surpassed 1 million since its August 30th launch. Assassin's Creed Shadows is now set to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on February 14, 2025.
