Eurogamer reported that Leeds-based studio XR Games is expected to lay off nearly all its staff after the disappointing release of Hitman 3 VR: Reloaded. According to a LinkedIn post by the studio's former head of production, 72 out of 84 employees have been notified of potential redundancies, leaving only 12 likely to remain. "This goes beyond restructuring," the staff member stated. "I'll keep my thoughts and observations to myself. Today, my focus is on helping those affected."
The layoffs will affect various development roles throughout the studio, including artists, programmers, project managers, production staff, game designers, and IT. XR Games has not yet officially announced the layoffs, and it's still uncertain if the studio will continue its other VR projects.
