DNA Clues Found in Louvre Heist as Police Continue Manhunt. French police have found traces of DNA in a helmet and glove left behind by suspects after a $102 million jewelry heist at the Louvre Museum. Investigators are analyzing the DNA to identify the thieves involved in the high-profile heist, which took place in the Apollo Gallery. The breakthrough in the investigation comes after Louvre director Laurence des Cars resigned in the wake of the robbery, though her resignation was rejected. Des Cars acknowledged weaknesses in the Louvre’s security, especially perimeter security, which had been underfunded for years. She noted that the museum’s alarms and video cameras were working but highlighted issues with the security system, especially around the Apollo Gallery. Des Cars revealed that the museum's Grand Louvre renovation project, started 40 years ago, has only affected half of the museum, leaving areas still vulnerable. Despite effective security inside the gallery, thieves managed to break in using power tools, and a camera outside the gallery failed to cover the area where the break-in occurred. While the investigation points to organized crime, authorities have not ruled out the possibility of an inside job being involved in the heist.
