Ukrainian Drone Fragments Recovered Near Moldova Border. Moldovan authorities said a Ukrainian drone crossed into the country early Monday and that fragments bearing traces of an explosion were found in a field near the Ukrainian border. According to the Moldovan defence ministry, surveillance systems detected the drone entering Moldovan airspace around 12:20 a.m. local time. Military officials said debris was recovered from an agricultural area and that evidence at the scene indicated a previous explosion. Moldova’s foreign ministry stated that all indicates that the drone was of Ukrainian origin, but argued that ultimate responsibility lay with Russia because its invasion of Ukraine. Ukraine’s foreign ministry said it was maintaining close contact with Moldovan officials and cooperating in efforts to establish the facts surrounding the drone's entry into Moldovan airspace. The episode is the latest in a series of drone-related security incidents affecting Moldova since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, with authorities repeatedly reporting foreign drones or debris landing near the country's borders. Moldovan President Maia Sandu has renewed calls for advanced interceptor-drone capabilities and more legal powers to respond to aerial threats linked to the war in Ukraine.
