Single-Use Vapes Set for Sales Ban Next Year. The UK government has announced a ban on the sale and supply of single-use vapes, effective from June 1st next year. The legislation was introduced in Parliament, giving businesses time to sell off existing stock before the ban begins. The UK and devolved governments collaborated on the timing to ensure a unified implementation. Mary Creagh, the Circular Economy Minister, called single-use vapes “extremely wasteful, adding that the ban is a step towards reducing the country’s disposable culture. She emphasized that this move aims to create a more sustainable economy, reduce waste and help the UK reach net-zero goals while generating new jobs. Last year, it was estimated that nearly five million single-use vapes were discarded weekly in the UK, a significant increase from the previous year.
