Ariana Grande has won the coveted Video of the Year for Brighter Days Ahead at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards in New York. After reading a long list of collaborators who were involved in making the video, Grande closed out her speech by saying, "Thank you to my therapist and gay people.” Lady Gaga took out the prize for Artist of the Year, claiming her trophy and thanking her fiancé, Michael Polansky, before leaving the star-studded ceremony to perform at Madison Square Garden, as part of her The Mayhem Ball Tour. ”A partner in all things, Michael, creating this year with you was a beautiful, beautiful dream and you have been my partner every step of the way," she said to cheers from the crowd. Newcomer Alex Warren scooped Best New Artist and also performed at the event. Other performers on the night included Sabrina Carpenter, 2025 Video Vanguard Award recipient Mariah Carey, Busta Rhymes, winner of the inaugural Rock the Bells Visionary Award, and Ricky Martin, who bagged the Latin Icon Award. The glittering event took place on Sunday night US time at the UBS Arena, with the broadcast hosted by Grammy- and VMA-winning artist LL Cool J.
