Whistleblower Accuses Meta of Prioritizing China Ties Over U.S. Security. A former Meta executive told U.S. senators that the tech giant compromised national security to pursue an $18 billion business in China. At a Senate hearing, Sarah Wynn-Williams, once Facebook’s global policy director, claimed Meta let the Chinese Communist Party access user data, including that of Americans, and cooperated in censoring critics like exiled dissident Guo Wengui. Meta firmly denied the accusations, calling them false and out of touch with reality. While Meta says it doesn’t operate in China, it does profit from Chinese advertisers.
