Morgan Wallen wins Billboard Awards hours after being sentenced for chair-throwing incident. The country music star took home Top Male Artist, Top Country Artist, Top Country Male Artist, and Top Collaboration for his hit song I Had Some Help featuring Post Malone at Thursday's ceremony. The honour was a far cry from the legal woes he'd endured earlier in the day, when he pleaded guilty to two misdemeanour counts of reckless endangerment over the incident at Nashville’s Chief's bar in April where he threw a chair from the sixth-storey rooftop bar owned by fellow musician Eric Church. A judge in Nashville sentenced the 31-year-old to seven days at a driving under the influence (DUI) education centre, two years probation and a $350 (£277) fine. Accepting his gongs in a pre-recorded speech, Morgan thanked his fans for their continued support. ”I just wanted to say thank you guys for everyone who's supported me along my journey and, as always, most importantly, thank you to my fans. You guys have just given me so much freedom to make music that I want to make.” "Whether it's a song that sounds similar to something I've put out in the past or whether it's something that is completely different, you guys have always just given, at least given it a chance, and that's all I can ask for and I just want to say thank you guys for being that way with my music. I hope I can come back next year and accept some more, but for now, I really appreciate it. God bless you.” Morgan was previously arrested for public intoxication in May 2020 and disorderly conduct outside Kid Rock's bar in the same Nashville district.
