While some people believe it is better to brush your teeth before breakfast, others insist that you should brush them after your morning meal. Many of us have different opinions about the best time to brush our teeth, so UltraDEX has teamed up with Dr Rana Al-Falaki, periodontist and leadership coach to shed some light on how we can best manage our morning routine. "As a dentist, this is actually one of the most commonly asked questions.” "The answer we give patients is to brush before breakfast, otherwise all the bacteria in your mouth that has built up over night get to indulge in a feast on everything you eat or drink and if you have fruit juice in the morning, brushing straight after is a big problem." The dentist adds that brushing your pearly whites after breakfast is more likely to make your breath smell "worse" than brushing before you eat breakfast. Dr Al-Falaki then goes on to explain that mouthwash is more effective if you don't use it immediately after brushing your teeth. "…it is best practice not to use mouthwash straight after brushing your teeth, but to let the fluoride and other benefits of the toothpaste remain on your teeth and do its job." Dr Al-Falaki recommends using a mouthwash, such as UltraDEX Daily Oral Rinse Whitening, after breakfast or in the middle of the day to ensure your breath stays minty fresh throughout the day.
