Delta Offers $30,000 to Passengers After Toronto Plane Crash. Passengers aboard the Delta flight that crashed and flipped over at Toronto's Pearson Airport have been offered $30,000 each as compensation from the airline. The flight, operated by Delta subsidiary Endeavor Air, was traveling from Minneapolis-St. Paul when it skidded, flipped, and caught fire upon landing on Monday. Remarkably, all 80 passengers and crew survived the crash, with many able to walk away from the wreckage, though some were hospitalized with injuries. Delta confirmed that the $30,000 offered to each passenger comes with "no strings attached" and does not affect their legal rights as investigations continue. Eyewitnesses described the harrowing moments as the plane flipped; Pete Koukov recalled seeing "sparks and flames" as the aircraft slid sideways before flipping upside down. Passengers praised flight attendants for maintaining order during the evacuation, with many helping others unbuckle and climb out of the overturned jet. Another passenger, John Nelson, said some travelers struggled to free themselves from their seats, while others were able to drop to the ceiling and exit on their own. Peter Carlson, speaking to CBS News, described the urgency to escape after smelling aviation fuel and seeing it pour down the windows, fearing a potential fire. Despite the chaos, Carlson and another passenger helped a mother and her young son before making their own escape from the plane. Delta CEO Ed Bastian expressed sympathy, stating, "The hearts of the entire global Delta family are with those affected," as the investigation into the cause of the crash continues.
