Tens of thousands of women marched through the streets of West Bengal on Wednesday night to protest the horrific rape and murder of a trainee doctor at a Kolkata hospital. This "Reclaim the Night" march was the peak of a week-long wave of outrage sparked by the brutal killing of the 31-year-old at RG Kar Medical College. Exhausted after a 36-hour shift, the doctor had fallen asleep in a seminar room, only to be tragically found the next morning with severe injuries. A hospital volunteer has been arrested in connection. Despite the largely peaceful protests, clashes erupted between police and a small group at the hospital, leading to tear gas being fired. Protests also spread to other cities, including Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Pune.
