How to treat four 'embarrassing' health conditions. Niamh McMillan, Superdrug Pharmacy Superintendent, shares her expert advice on how to tackle "embarrassing" health conditions. Bad breath Halitosis, or chronic bad breath, affects many people but is often left unspoken due to embarrassment. ”Typically caused by poor oral hygiene, dry mouth, or other underlying health factors, it can be managed with proper care such as regular dental visits and good oral hygiene practices.” Smelly feet Smelly feet, or bromodosis, is typically caused by a build-up of sweat, bacteria, and poor ventilation inside shoes. Niamh recommends wearing breathable shoes and using odour-controlling products to help keep your feet feeling and smelling fresh. Body odour Excessive sweating and body odour (BO) can occur all year roun and is associated with a number of factors including stress, diet or hormonal changes. Body odour can be managed with good hygiene, an effective deodorant and breathable clothing. Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) Many STIs, such as chlamydia, gonorrhoea, and genital herpes, may not show obvious symptoms. “But can still cause complications if left untreated. Practicing safe sex, regular testing and open communication with partners are all key to preventing and managing STIs.”
