Trump Pulls Canada Invite From ‘Board of Peace' After Public Spat. US President Donald Trump has withdrawn Canada's invitation to join his newly formed Board of Peace, escalating tensions between Washington and Ottawa. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the board was officially rescinding its offer to Canada, addressing the message directly to Prime Minister Mark Carney. No reason was given for the reversal. The move comes days after Carney warned of a potential fracture in the US-led global order and confirmed Canada would not pay the proposed one-billion-dollar membership fee. While Carney had earlier said he would accept the invitation in principle, Ottawa made clear it would not fund the body. The Board of Peace grants Trump sweeping authority as chairman for life and is being promoted as a new international conflict-resolution body. Critics say it could undermine the United Nations. Around 60 countries have been invited, with roughly 35 reportedly signing on. However, none of the other permanent UN Security Council members have joined.
