Disco Elysium Studio ZA/UM Faces Workforce Cuts Amidst Project Cancellations. ZA/UM, the studio behind Disco Elysium, is reportedly facing significant workforce cuts, with around 24 employees at risk of redundancy, according to Eurogamer. This follows the cancellation of a standalone expansion, codenamed X7, which was allegedly one to two years away from completion. According to Swedish gaming content agency (GLHF), this marks the third project scrapped or paused by ZA/UM in recent years, including the cancellation of a Disco Elysium sequel in 2022 and a pause on a new sci-fi IP in 2023. The job losses are expected to impact the X7 team as well as non-development teams and other projects. ZA/UM CEO, Kompus, stated that the studio is handling the situation with care and respect, describing the redundancies as part of a plan to reshape the team to support their two remaining projects, codenamed C4 and M0.
