Paul Mescal left baffled by Ridley Scott's feedback. The 28-year-old Irish actor was directed by film legend Ridley, 86, in the new epic sequel Gladiator II. However, the Normal People actor was left baffled by a note the legendary director gave him when they first started working on the epic Hollywood blockbuster. The star admitted to Hollywood Authentic, "This ties back to something Ridley said on the first day of filming when we were waiting to get going, and we were all in these little tents.” "He comes up, smoking a cigar, and he slaps me on the back, and goes: 'Just remember, your nerves are no good to me.’" Revealing the remark completely threw him, Mescal continued, "I was like 'What the f**k does that mean?’ "What I took from it was: 'This isn't about you. So whatever legacy the film is taking, you're actually doing it a disservice if you can't wear that. It's bigger than us all making the film. Just go make the film.’" The new film comes 24 years after the original - which starred Russell Crowe as tragic fighter Maximus Decimus Meridius. The new film sees Mescal playing his son, Lucius 'Hanno' Verus - with the film already pulling in impressive figures at the Box Office after one weekend.
